Overview
3-DAY PUMA TRACKING
The Patagonia Puma (Puma concolor) is the second largest cat in the Americas. These remarkable and powerful creatures hunt and travel all across the Patagonian Steppes. Their vast hunting grounds and elusive nature make consistently finding them a challenge.
We work with experienced puma tracking experts to find these magnificent creatures in their natural environment. Our tour adapts to the geography and seasonal challenges of this wild and untamed region.
Our traditional tracking methods and local expertise mean that we can bring you close to these majestic creatures in their own habitat.
EXPEDITION HIGHLIGHTS
Our puma expedition follows a rough guideline. Each day is spent with a dedicated puma tracker who works with the expedition guide to locate pumas in a variety of behaviours and terrains. As you photograph a puma, the tracker will move on to find another puma, and new photo opportunities for you to experience.
A day on our expedition usually looks like this:
-
3-4 hours of puma sightings twice a day (at dawn and at sunset, when the cats are the most active), depending on location, weather and time of year.
-
During Spring and Summer (October - March) the longer days allow for various activities such as sightseeing, birdwatching, or heading back to our hotel before our second 3 to 4-hour period until sunset (around 11pm).
-
During Autumn and Winter (May - September) we will stay within the estancia or venture into Torres del Paine before heading back for our second sighting of the day.
The time in between sightings is fully customisable to your interests, especially in the longer Spring and Summer days. We can search for other local species to complete your portfolio, or discover new experiences. If you have no specific preference, we will create an itinerary of local natural highlights.

Overview
FULL-DAY TORRES DEL PAINE
From the dazzling “Cleopatra’s Needles” which give the National Park its name, to the crashing thunder of the Salto Grande waterfall, the Torres del Paine National Park is a truly breathtaking vista of natural beauty.
By this point in the tour you’ll have travelled extensively through the North East area of the park, photographing and observing pumas. So, for the last day of this expedition we will take you through the rest of the park; past sweeping steppes, rugged mountains, and azure-blue lakes.
We drive around the central region of the National Park; it’s widely considered to have the most impressive and spectacular landscape. Here you’ll find viewpoints of landmarks like Lake Pehoé, Nordenskjold, and the Torres del Paine themselves - to name but a few.
However, we always enjoy tailoring this part of the tour to your interests - if you’re looking for a particular species of animal, or a certain viewpoint, we can accommodate all sorts of requests.

Day-by-day schedule
DAY-BY-DAY SCHEDULE
DAY 1
After arriving in Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales or El Calafate airports (or a nearby hotel), we will collect you and take you to the hotel; stopping along the way for photographs. Once we get to the hotel, we’ll take you through the expedition in greater detail. We’ll also go over any bespoke requests you’ve made, and make them happen.
DAYS 2 - 4
Our 3-day Puma expedition starts before dawn each day, following a hearty breakfast. Each day we’ll spend 3-4 hours viewing pumas at sunrise and another 3-4 hours at sunset. The time between sightings varies depending on the time of the year, meaning that we could venture into Torres del Paine or experience the landscape and local fauna before our second sighting at sundown.
DAY 5
Day 4 is our full-day tour through the beauty of Torres Del Paine National Park, finishing off this unforgettable trip with photo opportunities of wilderness and wildlife.
DAY 6
We will deliver you back to your airport. Time permitting, we can make some additional stops for more photographs - if you still have room on your memory card.
